Urgent help needed to save our fish

Postby Metalhead » Mon Feb 22, 2010 5:34 pm

Dear All,

Over the winter months the Association has continually had to monitor the cormorant problem at Dane Valley Fisheries. The responsibility for this has landed upon our secretary Roy Garton and fellow committee member Peter Moore who, between them, have been keeping a daily vigil over pool 3 during the daylight hours.

Roy is going to be unavailable for a couple of weeks and Peter cannot be expected to maintain a presence at the venue by himself, therefore I have to ask for volunteers to give us some assistance. If you can spare half a day, or even just a few hours, it would help to take the pressure off a little.

You don't have to do anything very demanding. You can sit in your car and read a book, or do your knitting, or whatever else takes your fancy (you could even have a few hours fishing). All we ask is that you walk around and wave your arms about a bit when the cormorants show up. As long as someone is there to disturb them our fish will be safe.

If you cannot help yourself but know of someone else who might be able to, then please, please pass this message on and ask them to get in touch.

Can I ask those who are able to help to contact Peter directly on:

Home 01606 - 76723 / Mobile 0796 - 378 - 0974.

Many Thanks,

Mark.

Head Bailiff.

Thank you, that really would be a help as it will give Peter Moore a break. Can I ask you to let him know (phone numbers in first posting) when you will be going.

Thanks again,

Mark.
